Projects operating in Rwamwanja, Uganda
LWF first opened a project site in June 2012 to serve Congolese refugees fleeing the crisis between M23 and government troops in the Democratic Republic of Congo in the Rwamwanja Refugee settlement in Kamwenge District.

In Rwamwanja, LWF facilitates water and sanitation in conjunction with the Office of the Prime Minister and the UN High Commission on Refugees, which run the site. The project has a number of activities planned and in progress:

  • Drilling boreholes
  • Increasing food security for refugees
  • Enhancing the cohesion and peace around and within the refugee settlement
